Happy Birthday 2015
I am so fortunate to have live this long so far and very happy to be here. This may be due to my Cylon DNA. This cake is a very tasty cake, but is the second one. I had a friend that came over and brought a cake to share, he is a great fiber friend and friend. Birthday 2015 gifts cards

Happy Birthday to Me 2014

This was the best Birthday that I can remember I have had in many years. I was completely at peace and did exactly what I wanted all day. I ate what I wanted, I got laundry done, and had my favorite cake. I also dotted some i and crossed some tees that needed crossing.

Happy Birthday To Me!

Andy2012Birthday 019
Today was another birthday and a great celebration.  I made a marbled chocolate chip cake and it was delicious. I had a great day with Michael and we had lots of fun. We were streaming a class from Craftsy.com on Weaving on a rigid heddle. The class is very good. Here you see Michael weaving, what a wonderful gift for both of us. I wanted him to try weaving and he really enjoys it. Let's see how his scarf turns out.

While the weaving class was going the dyeing kettles were cooking the yarn. Alum and cream of tartar were mordants, then set on a crimson journey.

The yarn took a beautiful color and no dye was left on the kettle. I put it out to dry while we went for a long walk. The day was perfect to hang the yarn out to dry. So I spent my birthday with Michael, weaving and dyeing yarn. Wool is amazing as you can see. Thanks for stopping by.

Birthday Cakes 2011

BirthdayCakes2011 (2) by Crafty Andy
BirthdayCakes2011 (2), a photo by Crafty Andy on Flickr.
This is my first cake, then I made the second cake. I had a wonderful day full of greetings and salutations. Few gifts from the heart, no that gifts make much difference at this time in my life. I find gifts cute, but I find people wishing me a great day more valuable a gift. More to come of my WIP , but today is all about my 51 st Birthday, many more to come, may the Lords of Kobol bless my life forever.. I will be editing this to add my own cake, meaning the cake I made for myself, the one above is the one I was given which is a wonderful cake given by people who love me and made my day very special;.

BirthdayCakes2011 (5)

Of course I ate some of my own cake, the cake I always make for myself. It is a regular yellow cake with about a cup of organic cocoa, it has organic olive oil and free range eggs. Having the best ingredients possible is the best of gifts.

Crafty Andy Turns 50!

My 50th birthday has been yesterday, but I have been celebrating for some time now lol! These are some of the birthday  greetings I received through the mail, there were so many on the Internet and some that may still arrive.  My Birthday was simple and full of fiber which is something I enjoy. There are a few things that you learn in 50 years, mind you and one is not to take life too seriously. The picture is of a Tension Kate I got for my birthday, it is a nice portable one , by Ashford.  Thank You Michael.
In 50 years I learned a lot , and I am very much going to live the next 50 without repeating the same mistakes if I can.   Here are some  50 things I have learned.

  1. Love is never enough.

  2. Love lives within you, no one is going to love you like you love yourself.

  3. Respect yourself and your personal values.

  4. Don't allow an injustice to go unnoticed, it will eventually be your turn.

  5. Have lots of acquaintances and enjoy them for what they are.

  6. Some friendships last a lifetime and throughout all your boyfriends and marriages as well.

  7. If it is too good to be true it probably is.

  8. Be careful what you wish for you may get it.

  9. Don't gossip.

  10. Be kind  and polite.

  11. Always be aware of your surroundings.

  12. Stop whining.

  13. Don't take things personal unless they truly are.

  14. Nothing, good or bad last forever.

  15. Pain, disease and death are part of life, but that does not mean you can not be happy.

  16. Sex and love are very different.

  17. Men are pigs, most of them that is.

  18. Your self worth is yours, nothing can give you self worth, you can not buy it, trade it, steal it, or lose it!

  19. Disease is a condition, not a punishment.

  20. There is an infinite Intelligence, but I doubt it is the God or Gods  of Any Religion in this world.

  21. There is no Devil , take responsibility for your own actions.

  22. Never let your mind convince you it is you, is just a tool.

  23. Quiet your mind once in a while.

  24. Enjoy being alone.

  25. Stop complaining and do something about it or just shut up.

  26. Don't over stimulate your sense.

  27. Too much of anything is not as good as it sounds.

  28. Take time to cry.

  29. Take time to laugh.

  30. Politicians are like used car salesmen, be aware of the fine print.

  31. Take power naps.

  32. Don't leave trash behind, pick up after yourself.

  33. Real Life is Shades of Gray, not Exactly Black or White.

  34. Trust your instincts.

  35. Always tell the truth it makes life easier.

  36. We are stewards of this planet, enjoy it with care.

  37. For every action there is a reaction of equal and opposite value.

  38. The secret of a long life is to always be true to yourself and stay away from the Borg.

  39. Learn to be yourself.

  40. Alcohol and cigarettes are drugs.

  41. You can not control life.

  42. Be a person of your word.

  43. Blood is thicker than water, never doubt that.

  44. No matter where you go there you are.

  45. Don't trust anyone , but yourself, if you trust yourself you can react to the world around you accordingly.  Trusting people is risky, but should not be confused with being blind to their flaws and their reality. If they don't walk their talk, there is something not right, Believe me.

  46. Everything in life is a gift , you come into this world with nothing and at the end of your life you will have to leave it all behind, unless you are an Egyptian and get mummified like the Pharaohs.

  47. Don't let anyone use Emotions to Manipulate you.

  48. Always have a good attitude, say  thank you , be greatful and have grace.

  49. Remember that the sun comes out for the Evil  people too, and that good people have misfortunes.  It is life after all.

  50. Love yourself ,
I could go on, but I would bore both of us to death.  Enjoy the gift of life and thank you for allowing me in your home!

As The Fiber Turns

Well Crafty Andy has become more Crafty at nearly his 50th Birthday, not until next month, I am 49.8999 years old lol.  I  got a nice Wheel to become more of an Artisan of the Fiber Kind. This is another journey along with my spindle that will be a lot of fun. I am very Happy to enter this second part of my life as an Fiber Artist. SonataDbTreadle
Today I got some delicious fiber from Milk Protein, bamboo and all kinds of wool which is below and more on the previous post.  I like the double treadle of this wheel.   It is more comfortable.  A wheel is a different kind of machine let me tell you.  You need to make it your pet and be nice to it and it will give you lots of pleasure in time.

Now looking forward to creating yarn . Crafty Andy has moved to the Dark Side. Making yarn will be a lot of fun as I get more experience, this is a portable wheel with a bag and it is very light. It could use some wheels, but is not that heavy. I am looking forward to my classes to learn more about drop spindle and wheel spinning, more about plying, navajo plying, joins and the rest of all that jazz..

I hope you come with my in my life's journey of a Fiber Artist as I get into my golden years and become , I hope a teacher of the craft.  Thanks for allowing me in your home.  Thanks for stopping by!

I have not bought a SLR camera in a very long time, I believe my first SLR was a bought at Fort Lewis Camera Shop. It was a Minolta and I was in love with that camera. I do enjoy the live View of the subject you are trying to get, but the view finder is good enough, as you can review your pictures. I think this is a great camera that will bring lots of enjoyment to my life, I may have to lower the Resolution for uploading. The camera is worth the money in my opinion. It is my Second Birthday Present, but the first one to arrive lol. I will pay this off in a few months, no interest and no payment for 6 months is a nice feature. Thanks for stopping by and look forward to great pictures.

A great Birthday 2009

I had a Great Birth Day celebration and life keeps going on. Some Amedei Chocolates and great flowers, there were tulips as well, but I did not take a picture of them. AS I get older little things count more from people I care about. The biggest thing I care about is about me being grateful for a great life. I have to have the gratitude for being in the world and sharing my life with all of you. I want to thank all of you for the Birthday Wishes.
The Barbara Walker Learn To knit Afghan is still going, so stay tune for more beautiful squares. Thanks for stopping by!
