Brickstreet in the Works

brickstreet
This is my latest project in the works.  It is a very nice afghan by WestKnits aka Stephen West. The only problem with this Afghan is that the chart needs to be updated.  It has an error, that is easily fixed by printing the chart in black and white and then using a red marker to see where your repetitions really are.  In the end is OK, but annoying, nevertheless the pattern is gorgeous .  I am using sports weight yarn from KNit Picks, (double strands) with a US 11 .  I actually made gauge so I went with it.  I am almost done, but I wanted to share the work in progress as of some time ago.  I'll talk more about it later.  I hope your Thanksgiving was as pleasant as mine and that you have a great Holiday Season. Thanks for stopping by!

Kilt Hose on Dk Weight

ValhallaAwaitsWIPleft (4)
Just dropping a note.  I started the second pair of Kilt hose.  I really want to learn how to make socks that are custom shaped.  I am learning a lot as I go.  This wool is over spun yarn I got from Knit Picks a while ago, it will be very sturdy. It knits a bit quicker with less repetitions and of course less knitting, The cuff is wider and I like the way it fits over the top of my calf. I may need a garter, or I may not.  I am making my own kilt hose flashes.  Hope you enjoy the journey of my second adventure on kilt hose. Thanks for stopping by!

Franklin Habit's Sahar

Sahar (30)
I am finally done with the Sahar Stole.  This pattern is by Franklin Habit. I enjoy doing lace and sometimes it becomes repetitive and that is fun. It is also something that you get use to it and then you become bored some times.  The Sahar Stole is a pattern that will teach  you about lace. You can see what wonder stitches like SSK and K2tog do on a stole like this one.  The selvedge is your friend and if you follow the instructions without fear, you will get an amazing stole.  I made this baby on US 4 , I committed to make it relaxed. I was happily surprised at the blocked size. is A bit over 88 inches length and 16 inches width.

Sahar (11)

I say this is a great lace project, it will teach you plenty and you get to graft the two pieces together. I used a sports weight Knit Picks overspun yarn. I can tell you that it was a fantastic choice. My stole does not have a bias. I figured that a lot of the torque from being overspun would dissipate in the Yarn overs and it did. That tells me that the Sahar Stole is a great Pattern for  hand spun yarn. Thanks to Franklin for this wonderful adventure in lace. Thanks for stopping by.

Baby Peapod FO

May I present you the Baby Peapod in Comfy Blend from Knit Picks, it took about 4 skeins and it is their second size or a 6 months old size. I added two features which I thought were needed. Two strings to hold the hat down for the Baby and ending the hat in a Pea Pod Manner. I did not like the square finish of it. It made no sense. I was going to even crochet some leaves, but I thought there was enough greenery here. I was very pleased with the Lace part, extremely surprised on how good I did on the round and back and forth. Now let's see if I can work on my hat now and then a sweater lol! Thanks for stopping by!

Freedom Hat is Done!

My first Double pointed Needles project, my first double pointed needles pattern! I really like DPNs. I had no idea how wonderful it would be to make hats this way. Here you have some pictures from my Knitting in public on the plane. You can actually knit on a plane with dps and regulr wooden needles. I have done it more than once and I don't think there are any problems with the American Air Rules and the TSA. I had a chance to do some wonderful Knitting in public at the Admiral's Club Lounge. My double point fear has faded away as I struggle to find my balance with the needles. Five needles is a great balance for a project and one thing is for sure a lot of people are curious about what you are doing. It seems that people have seen a lot of people knitting, but very few people knitting with that many needles at the same time lol!

The hat is finished, it is ready for the San Francisco Summer and has the 4 TH of July Colors! It was a very basic hat pattern starting with 8 stitches and then progressing to 96 stitches. I will be creating another one with this pattern soon. I decided to make the increases on every needle at a certain point then I decided that I wanted to have 8 points of increases. I guess I could have started it earlier, but this is how you learn. I ended the pattern with a cute basket weave 3 by 3 pattern. I am in love with my Harmony Double Points is all I can say and making hats is something that I enjoy and finding joy in double point needles was a great and pleasant surprise.
So here I am modeling my hat with some a collector's item glass from SPOK can you imagine? I am a very happy camper, very little to please me these days. I want to thank you for allowing me in you home and hope to have more fun stuff to tell you later on. Thanks for stopping by!

Bare Necessities from Knit Picks

One of the things that I discover as I go along my journey of Craftsmanship is to enjoy the craft and the process of learning. Knit Picks allows me to do this easily with their bare yarn. There are other companies like Dharma (here in California) , but for now I am comfortable with Knit Picks and the choices they have to offer.

I am also done with the Easy Head Hugger from Danny Oullette, Malabrigo is not the best yarn for this pattern, but I wanted to make the hat in this yarn. The colorway is very distracting from the chevrons on the lower band. Going back to Knit Picks a great deal for little money and the ability to paint it yourself! You can not beat such a great deal!

Well I hope you enjoy the video is in HD and I am playing around with videos as well, so have fun as well, thanks for stopping by!
