This pattern is called the Proton Stream Convergence by Gillian Kratzer. It was a Tam/Beret and I decided to make it into a hat. There were some manipulations I had to make and skip some instructions. The hat is lovely and the Burgundy hat, is the Chartreuse Hat, overdyed with IDye Crinsom . I love over dyeing yarn and hats for that matter. I kind of now appreciate the color Burgundy more than ever. There is more to come in the Hat creation. stay tuned and thanks for stopping by!
I am hoping that this blog will help you and me experience the craft of crochet as well as knitting. During times of silence or turmoil, crochet and knitting continuously help me quiet my mind at my own pace, enabling me to find my center. I am also sharing my SECRET persona, Lt. DAX, my life in code while living in Bajor. Maybe fiction maybe not is up to you to decide. Peldor Joi!!!

Wollemeise Overdye
So what's up with me and Overdyeing Wollemeise. Well I wanted a different green and I am not against blue, just did not have a project for the blue I got as a surprise.
This yarn has a wonderful smell to it, a friend of mine says is gummy bears , lol. This yarn was a powder blue color, very light almost like baby blue. I needed and wanted a green for my project with the blue you see peeking out. Wollemeise takes overye well, and should dry nicely. What do you know two posts inn a week. Thanks for stopping by!

Adventure of Overdye ,felting
So here is a project that I want to make. I want to felt the beret, a pattern by my friend Kent. I have to admit that at this moment I don't really have enough yarn in my stash, lol. I have accomplished one of my yarn diet goals.I do have more yarn than this, it is just in bags for a specifi project. So with Jacquard Dyes and a crockpot I was able to make the three skeins of yarn at the bottom the same color,
Here you have the yarn has been unified by color over dye. I first over dye the yarn with green, the yellow and the blue took it nicely, but there was a variation on the yellow. I decided that it needed some blue to unify the color a bit more and I used Teal. The result was exactly what I wanted.
I did not know if this yarn was going to take felting, so I did a little swatch and felted it by hand. The results were acceptable, it felted easily. At 15% silk this wool /Alpaca blend felts without any problems. I made a swatch of 15 or so stitches, then I warmed up some water with soap and went to work. Thanks for stopping by.

Boneyard
The original yarn, the way it look from the skein before all the transformations.
Out to dry after an overnight overdye job. For reds and blues, patience is definitely something to cultivate.
In a matter of a day I was able to make this scarf-shawl, what is more amazing is that this pattern is simple. Stephen West , from www.Westknits.com has made this pattern available for free on his site and on Ravelry. It is a simple stockinette with simple increases, but you can increase anyway you ant, by pick up a stitch or by Making 1 Stitch left or Right. A shawl will take about probably 200 or so yards and if you use big needles like US 8 or US 9 you will get a nice size shawl. I used US 9 and bound off with US 10.5. MY bind off is very stretchy as I use the bind off from the Herbivore. I was very pleased with the two overdyes I have done with this yarn. I first overdyed this variegated green yarn with blues and yellows, then with Black Cherry Kool aid And Jacquard Cherry. This is the Burgundy I like and I know that I will wear this ensemble lots of times. I hope you have a great Sunday, I have some more fun to get into. Thanks for stopping by!

Reds and Greens and in between
As a Stash Buster I am making this Windchief from WestKnits aka Stephen West, but I used two yarns that I fused together and overdyed them in greens, but did not like it very much. Here comes the Black Cherry Kool Aid and Jacquard Dye Cherry.

Below is the Start of the Boneyard in my hand, once it is finished I will overdye it with the same recipe and will become burgundy as well.
I used 1/4 teaspoon of Jacquard dye and 2 packs of Black Cherry Kool Aid per 50 grams to get this beautiful Burgundy below and will be the same recipe I will use to overdye the Boneyard, another Pattern by WestKnits. The shawl is in the works and will be the same color as the hat, I think the Burgundy is delicious, Black Cherry none the less. Thanks for stopping by!
