Morchen Brethren

Morchen Brethren (4)
Another pair of socks before the Men's Fall Knitting Retreat.  I will tell you that this is the most wonderful men sock pattern that I have made in my life.  There are such a beauty, I am thinking of modifying this pattern to make a pair of kilt hose for me.  I love this pattern and I love bright colors.

There are more than two projects on the horizon.  There are more than 2  scarves in the burner for the  knit fashion and at least one Tapestry crochet hat.  Hope your week is as fantastic as mine.  I am heading for the gym and will definitely have a great gym session. I can't way to see my Brethren next week and look at them from a new perspective.  Thanks for stopping by!

Gotland Spun and a sock

So I have been spinning some fiber. This fiber is gotland, silvery and long staple, has a feel of cotswold. I love this fiber and have some more waiting until 2015. I will have to tell you later why, but right now I won't get into the details. These were two bobbins full. DSC_3721[1]
Amazing I only had very little left from one bobbin, which makes me very happy. I did a navajo ply of this, I may use it to hold the skein together.

Purple Brethren WIP

PurpleBrethren (1)
This is the Purple Brethren and  I continue to enjoy this fantastic pattern.  It is one of the most beautiful and easy to make sock patterns that I have encountered .  You won't be bored and you have to pay some attention to the pattern, if you don't your cables may end up on the wrong side (I am talking by experience ). I have casted on the second sock and will be working on it later today. If you wonder about the yarn, is Wollemeise Ballerina. I can tell you that is a bit pricey, but once you work with Wollemeise yarns you  will know a yarn quality like no other. Thanks for stopping by!

Brethren Socks

Tauron BrethrenSocks (2)
So here we are at the end of a pair of socks.  I found the pattern amazing and easy to follow.  What I like about this pattern is that the heel does not have the usual eye of Partridge style.  The heel flap has cables  (as shown below) and they feel comfortable when you have them on.  I am making myself two more pairs, but I am at one pair of socks a month self imposed sock club lol.  I did a two strand heel and the toe section.  I was very aware that it would change my gauge and I ended up having to modify the pattern a bit.  I had to skip some plain knit rows in order to have my sock with the right length.  This is a cabled sock and taking that into consideration, you need to be aware of how tight you knit, because you may not e able to wear your tight socks, nevertheless you can gift them to someone else.

Speaking about other people.  Lots of onlookers are amazed at the wonders of sock making and ask me if I make socks for people.  It is a labor of love, because a pair of hand knit socks is really priceless. If you wonder which color of green this is, the photo below is the closes to the real color. The yarn is wollemeise wolle (superwash) colorway Mistelzweig.  The first photo was taken at night and with the help of some filtering I got a nice lettuce green on them.  My next two pairs are going to be purple, yellow and perhaps a third pair in blue.  I bid you well and hope you have a wonderful Spring and  a Happy Autumn to those on the Southern Hemisphere.  Thanks for standing by!

Kilthose and Lace-Garn

The Pattern is Kilravock, sounds like a Klingon Word and perhaps it is in some fashion. For a long time, I have been looking at making my Kilt hoses, not because they are cheaper to make, but because it makes me feel proud that I made my own kilt hoses. The pattern can use some better writing, but it is my preference and in no way changes the fact that it is a fantastic pattern. This is a pattern to make with some beautiful Woolmeise Twin yarn, I am thinking of the Silver gray, or the Safran, or even the Golden Pear. The greens are not bad either. At this time I am using Cascade Heritage in Moss green, to let the Celtic Heritage show. Being from Spanish Ancestry there is some Celtic there lol.

These days the wollemeise Store is having a sale at the brick and mortar store in Germany. I am so glad I am not there lol. I have to tell you , the quality of this yarn is amazing, the colors of course are out of this world. When I get the sock yarn I want , in the colorway I want, I will make another pair of Kilt Hose.  Below is a skein of Wollemeise Lace-Garn, which I guess translates to lace yarn, but don't quote me on that.  This was a gift from a friend, Kerry Shannon, which by the way gifted  the first Wollemeise skein  I ever had in my stash. Of course this yarn won't be this color for too long.  I will have to research which color I want to turn this skein into. There will be pictures, I promise.  Thanks for stopping by!

Wollemeise Overdye

So what's up with me and Overdyeing Wollemeise. Well I wanted a different green and I am not against blue, just did not have a project for the blue I got as a surprise.  This yarn has a wonderful smell to it, a friend of mine says is gummy bears , lol.  This yarn was a powder blue color, very light almost like baby blue.  I needed and wanted a green for my project with the blue you see peeking out. Wollemeise takes overye well, and should dry nicely.  What do you know two posts inn a week.  Thanks for stopping by!
