Felt Imperfect

Interesting choice of words.  I was going to speak about the Retreat, maybe I will before the week ends.  I have been deactivated from Facebook, mainly because I am reevaluating my life and Facebook adds very little to my life.  I still have to say that I have learned about stuff from Facebook  before it comes out in the news, but that is another story. I find that Facebook has some value, but people are too much, they say too much and stay behind the anonymity veil to be aggressive and jerks.  Some people air all their drama and frustrations in there.  It gets tiresome after a while.  Let's see how long I go before re activating my account and who has stayed with me.
Resistance
I got this yarn the other day. Just in case you don't know I have all my yarn in boxes. There is remodeling going on in my life, from the floors to the ceiling. How is that for unexpected change. Well I knew it was coming, but not this sudden, I should not complain. So I went walking last Saturday to the Upper Haight and found Mendel's which is a craft store in the Haight Ashbury district.  I really enjoyed my walk from the lower Haight. So I bought the yarn and crochet hook and decided to make a felted mouse for my temporary pet Mona.
Mona's mouse
I think she likes it more than expected lol.  Believe it or not it is still a bit wet.  I added some eyes with the pink.

Making this little mouse and going out for some retail therapy made me feel a lot better.  Many men don't understand the therapeutic effect that window shopping or plain shopping has.  I was feeling down and very disappointed.  Even though I was tempted to buy an IPad, I decided for a traveling camera for my trip to come this week.

So I went to Best Buy looking for a smaller camera than the one I have.  I found something very good.  It is a Samsung ST150F, 16.2 MP, 25 mm lens and F2.5, with a micro sd slot.  I really like this camera.  I have just started to scratch the surface of the things I can do with it. It was inexpensive and it was not an IPad.  I may get myself an IPad for Christmas, I don't know yet.

So I had a little bit more yarn left and decided to make a felted case for the camera.  I found the perfect pattern On The Move Camera Case by Designs by Dianna.  I have to say that the pattern is fantastic and it has a way of helping you customize your pattern for any camera you have. It is $2.00 and it is a bargain. It matches My laptop case which is pink and grey, I guess it is what the new colors are for me.  I don't mind Pink nor do I mind grey. Everywhere I read about felting I read something very important.  Felting is not easily predictable and it is a matter of feeling or sensing.  There is some adjustments you can make, but in the end it is unpredictable.  Well there is more to come and hopefully this break from Facebook will force me to blog more, which is in the end what I like more.  Thanks for stopping by!

Punto Reves, Man knits Pink, reviews

Life is yours for the taking and there is so much to do and to see while on this plane.  I went to Punto Reves Yarn Shop in Altamira, and what an experience it is.  I am still glowing from the fun I had with the group. I learned to knit Left handed. What a hoot. I am making my niece a scarf on this wonderful yarn from Katia called Temis, is an acrylic, cotton, nylon blend, perfect for the tropics  and ver washable. This yarn is thick and thin and it is a lot of wfun to work with.  I recommend the yarn for lacy work with minimal knitting or crochet. This scarf is all in Knit Stitch on US 13.  I am hoping to visit the store again next week.  Their website is WWW.PuntoReves.com  .  If you are ever in Puerto Rico this is a must see. They have classes of lots of different crafts that are needle related. I was very impressed with the service , the friendliness and the vast knowledge of subjects in the arts that they have to share.CraftyAndySticksAndPink (2)
If you think this is the only project I have during my vacation you are mistaken.  I am working on a Tapestry Crochet Hat .  It will be a very funky Winter Hat, I hope people enjoy making it as much as I enjoy designing them.   Can't show you a picture yet, but I can tell you there is a Knit hat in the works as well.  It just struck me like a rain in the rainforrest.  Hope you are having a great November, I believe this has been the most fun time I have had in Puerto Rico, while visiting.  It is nice to sit and crochet or knit with fellow crafters.  Pina COlada por favor, stay tuned. Thanks for stopping by!

Yarn Porn To end 2008

Yarn Porn what better way to end my blogging this year. I wanted to buy some Mohair/ Silk blend and some fancy wools and I got the opportunity to do it today. Even if my SEX was not completely satisfying, I can say I cam home purring like an angora!
Cascade is always a great yarn to buy and I was going to get more yarn, but my gift Certificate was not for a lot this year. This LYS has a frequent Buyer Club, but let me tell you they have one less Buyer than they use to have. I don't know about you, but I was told that the amount of $ used in my gift certificate could not be used toward the frequent Buyer club. The person that purchased the Certificate was not Happy and let me tell you , that person may not buy another certificate from that place ever again. I did not make a scene, I am not that way, I am writing the owner a letter as she was the one that dealt with my purchase.
The yarn below is beautiful and I am sure I can make a nice hat with that yarn. I just love hats for my head, it gives me something to wear and keeps my thoughts warm and cozy. There was a hat made with a skein of pink hues that looked fantastic.
So to all of you Happy New Year 2009, it will be a Roller Coaster Year for some and interesting for lots. I Pray for Peace, Good Health, Joy, Abundance and the Time to spend the money wisely or not lol. Happy New Year! Thanks for stopping by!

The Yarn from Ireland

This yarn was just very nice, Manos del Uruguay that is. Manos is a very attractive yarn that I will buy anywhere. The price was reasonable otherwise I would have not made that kind of investment. Yes my friends in this day and age yarn should be looked at as an investment lol! You need to invest in renewable environmentally friendly yarn. It's just my ipinion.
Manos and the Kilcarra yarn were my investments at This is Knit in Dublin. The store is not very big, but it has a lot of yarn. I honestly did not have much time to spend here, because Michael does not like to shop at all and while he was in a good shopping mood, I had to be quick lol! This Kilcarra yarn is a tweed and it looks even better than the picture. I like green with colored specks, I would have bought enough for a sweater, but I decided not to. I have enough yarn at home still to make me two or three sweaters. This yarn may be a scarf , gloves or a hat. We shall see!
When we went to the Woollen Mills we had very little time to buy anything, so I went straight to the yarn. The did not have much to show, there was some superwash merino, but what I was looking for was the Aran Yarn. Tivoli and Kilcarra are yarns made in Ireland and that is what I wanted. The Aran Yarn has a very fluffy, yet chunky texture. I wish there were other colors, but this was perfect for what I wanted. Again a hat, scarf or gloves will be the end result of this bunch.
Well I wanted to buy more yarn, but there were not many choices at the places I went. By that I mean there were not many Irish Brands, but from what I saw this is what I bought. I wish there was time to join the Knitters' groups that met on a Saturday, but when you are on Holiday every second counts. I will like to go back to Ireland and Visit The Northern and Western Part of the Island. I will tell you it can all be done from Dublin. Well this concludes my yarn review. Later on I will tell you about the Tips for a stress free trip. Thanks for stopping by!

Socks in a Box, June 08 WIP

Well I just got this today, it is a Lantern Moon Basket Box. It is a basket and it is lined on the inside with silk fabric and there are strings that closes the opening and some fancy beads. I got it at Ebay for a good price. I actually thought it was more fancy than what I got. It disappointed me, but hey I bought it and I will use it. This is where I am planning to keep my Sock Work in progress projects or just my sock yarn. Actually my Taurean Socks WIP is resting in there, as I am working on it. The green that you see is the crochet MCAL work in progress, it is the last motif and it is the second of five. So I have been busy and quiet on the blog side. I will have some more Baby Surprise jackets and hats later on in the month or even next week.
So I am letting you know that I am pretty busy, and keeping out of trouble. Next week I will have more pictures of my other works in progress. One of my cousins is visiting from Atlanta and we are planning to visit the yarn store close to the house, one of them anyway. Imagiknit on Sanchez and 18th near the Castro District. That will be tomorrow and I am hoping to get some of the cotton yarn that they have on sale to combine with what I have and make some nice BSJ or Baby Surprise Jackets. May you have a great weekend and thanks for stopping by!
