Scairf Lasa a lace scarf

 "Scairf Lasa" A lace scarf.

Scairf Lasa (3)

Scairf Lasa is the translation in Irish for Lace Scarf. It is a very simple name for a very simple scarf.
I think that men don’t wear enough lace, because we are not used to it or don’t see it as part of
our wardrobe. I encourage you not to take that as a command, it is just an opinion. A lace scarf
can become elegant, Spartan, delicate, sensual. I believe the person wearing the scarf is the one
who chooses what message the scarf broadcasts to the world. This pattern was inspired by
Barbara G. Walker’s “Coverleaf Eyelet Cable” from the collection of books A Treasury of Knitting
Patterns, by Schoolhouse Press.

Gauge = 8 sts = 2 “ and 14 Rows = 2 “ in Stockinette stitch
Needle size 4 mm or US 6
Suggested yarn Wollemeise Twin

Blocked to size 76 inches by 9.5 inches Main Picture No border.

knitter's pride karbonz dpns review & more

So here we have a new pair of socks.  I am crazy about making socks this time and it is part of my fun.  Probably next month I will be making my own pattern, as I have focus on what I want.  I will need to test it and see how it comes along.  It is inspired by the fact that I have been making The Brethren Sock.  I asked   Millard Fontenot if he minded the inspirational pattern and I got a green light.  Thank my Brethren.

So here you see my newest acquisition in dpns (double pointed needles). These are Karbonz by Knitter's Pride.  They are carbon fiber as I understand it and the feel very nice to the touch.  I have not felt that they are week or that the points will come out.  They are not slick, yet they are not really grabby. To quote "A revolutionary product!! New-age needles made from High-Tech carbon fiber with tips in nickel plated brass!"  They come in  sizes from 1.0 mm to 6.0 mm I have to agree with this assessment.  These are great dpns and at a great price when you consider the alternatives out there for people like me.  What do I mean?  I tend to bend or break dpns, no kidding.  I give them 2 thumbs up.  From now on when I purchase dpns, I will have to consider these babies for sure.   Hope you like my review and my work in progress, thanks for stopping by!

Spring Brethren and more Tech Talk

Here is my latest project.  These socks are The Brethren Sock from Millard Fontenot.   My aim is to make one in each color, I do have my own sock pattern in the burner, but  I am in no hurry to test and or publish.  I have to have the time to design it in my head and paper.

Talking about design.  I truly don't understand why some software companies make false  or rather misleading statements in this day and age.   Roxio for the longest of time has been a great company, but this time they lost the ball with their BackOnTrack software.  The Creator Suites are fantastic Suites, but the BackOnTrack software only backs up your data in your documents.  In their comparison page they state that Creator  NXT Pro 2  backs up your  your operating system, data  and applications.  As of today March 10, 2014, it does only back up your data.  When you try to configure the back up in either one click or advanced modes, it displays the whole computer as being backed up, but believe me it does not.  Then when you come to the restore tab, it tells you that you can only restore "My Data".  My Data means your documents, pictures, videos and such.  It does a great job of backing up these files, but so does Windows File History.  If you are interested in a good Suite for burning CDs, copies and such.  This program at the Non Pro version is fantastic, but otherwise it is  not necessary to spend the extra money on the Pro 2, unless you want any of the software besides the BackOnTrack.  So in my opinion itis a great software, just don't believe it when it says it will back up your operating system and programs, because it does not.  Thanks for stopping by!

Spring 2014 Knitting and Tech

I believe once daffodils are out, spring is officially starting.  In California we have been experiencing a drought of kinds.  It is scary and nevertheless the way nature is.  I think this year may be different and we may get some other kind of water pattern.

I have a picture of my Tulips, yep the ones I plant every year.  I am very excited about the fact that I am able to do this.

Now for the tech part. I have a DELL XPS 8500 , and I upgraded the Dell Backup and Recovery Software at a cost of about $40.00. I will tell you that is you are looking for a software that is automated, do not get this software. Dell has failed to update it's software to work efficiently with Windows 8.1. On the long Run I decided to invest in another backup program, but nevertheless, Windows Image backup still works and File History is a good option. Right now I am trying BackonTrack by Roxio and it seems to work.

Also under Tech comes the fact that my Bluetooth  hardware had to be disabled, because Dell has not provided a good Windows 8.1 Driver.  I am very disappointed in Dell.   After upgrading or updating my computer to Windows 8.1, it took forever to restart or shut down( about 2 minutes) .  It has been my experience that computers have this kind of shutdown or restart problem when either a video or network card hardware or driver has problems.  Dell get your act together!
These are one pair of socks that will be done today.  I have started another pair of socks, but since I am reviewing the needles, it will be another post. Thanks for stopping by!
