The above hat is made with some scraps of hand dyed wools, some angora and some malabrigo. The hat Below is made with one Skein of Malabrigo both with an F hook, 3.75, but the beauty of this pattern is that you can adapt it to the yarn and the hook that you are using easily.

Scarfing in February, plus a hat

Remember the Berlin Brioche Scarf I started the other day. This has been one of the most challenging patterns, but I have learned a lot about knitting with it. The Brioche Stitch is all knit and I like that, no purling so far. I look forward to making a Harry Potter Ravenclaw Two Color Brioche Stitch for this Fall. Watch for it as I may come up with the Pattern myself! The garterlac Scarf is another beauty of a scarf. You want to learn this stitch, this pattern is the best to learn it. I believe you can get it from Skacel. I bet you this scarf will be a beauty in Noro Silk Garden Chunky or worsted weight.
The Palermo Sun has been until now very difficult to make, but having made two other Tapestry Crochet Hats , has allowed me to master some techniques which I am using as I am creating this pattern which will be released soon after my other pattern is proofed.
Well I just sent a "you tube" video from which this pictures came from. Thanks for stopping by.

Flat Brioche Stitch Tutorial

Have you ever wondered what this Brioche Prime Rib Stitch is all about. There are many patterns and many ways. This tutorial is about Flat Brioche Stitch Why you can't get it? Why does my pattern swatches does not look like the picture, where are the Yarn Overs? This is only on flat Brioche Stitch. After doing so countless times and remaking the stitch and seeing myself frustrated that I was unable to get this simple stupid stinky stitch and finding a Crochet Site aka Cloudy Crochet, she explains a bit what it is, and I put it on video, well I try to lol! Thanks for allowing me in your home and I apologize for the simplicity! Life is good once more ! Thanks for stopping by!

Yarn Porn Feb 09

This is Malabrigo Yarn Porn Baby. I went to my LYS for some S.E.X. You wonder what I was talking about, well here it is. I went to my Local Yarn Store (LYS) for some Stash Enhancement Experience (S.E.X.), life is so funny lol! The first is not regular Kettle dyed Malabrigo. It is Ozark Handspun , from Ozark Companion ,made in the USA, it looks a lot like Malabrigo and Manos and it is as soft
This one below is Hand spun, hand dyed Angora Malabrigo and it is very soft.
I am using it for a project on a new pattern that I am designing for sale, can't tell you more until later on . Thanks for stopping by!

Some Prime Rib and a New Hat

So here I am making a knitted scarf from the Malabrigo Loro Barranquero, I love Malabrigo and the names they come up with. It is made in the Brioche Stitch and let me tell you that I had the hardest of time to get this stitch right. This pattern in particular is called the Berlin Scarf, but let me tell you there is something not quite correct about the pattern, mainly the instructions. I had made and remade this little portion of the scarf about 10 times. It took the help of a fellow Crocheter , namely Cloudy Crochet and she explains it well, nothing cloudy about her. You can find her Brioche Explained HERE. I am in my way to my second inch of a good looking Brioche Scarf. There are no yarn overs!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This that you see in green is my newest hat and there is a pattern for the hat, not the color pattern, but how to make the exact shape. This will allow you to take advantage of the hat's make-up to create your own design. I have added some beautiful soft yarn to the bottom of the hat, but you will not see this until a day or two. Thanks for stopping by!

That Malabrigo Hat

I may put this Pattern for sale or I may not. I am Calling it the Amsterdam Sonnetto, it is done as of today, but now I am making the testing model and the pattern to be published soon. The pattern is very simple and the other hat which I am testing this pattern as is made , is in two colors. In a sense is a Tapestry Crochet and in another sense you can make it just one color, or you can make the bottom part with two different colors of yarn. I say it is as versatile as you are creative. Well Hope you like the pictures it was fun taking them. Thanks for stopping by!

Malabrigo Purples and Greens

Hats and designs for that matter are very interesting. Sometimes a very simple hat takes a long time to design. This Hat which already has a name will be finished within a week or so, but has been on the works for at least 6 months. What is the problem you ask? Look at it, please look at it . Did you guess what the problem is? The problem is the beautiful yarn, you can not make a very unique hat with lots of texture , because the yarn is too beautiful to not allow it to be it's own star. Yet I have found a simple pattern that I am going to share with you as soon as I finish it. I tell you it is a Crafty Andy Original and it is a very simple pattern for my taste, but it shows the beauty of this yarn.
Of course the pattern is not very conspicuous until you get a closer look; The crown is made of rectangles and triangles. The crown of this crochet Hat, which is mainly what I call a Man's Crochet Hat Pattern, is beautiful and would look even more beautiful if it was done in a color-stranding technique where the Rectangles and the Triangles where in different colors then you will com down to the rest of the hat where you will be alternating the colors, thus giving you a beautiful hat. Don't let the Man's Crochet Hat pattern, I believe it is anybody's Hat pattern, but I made it with men in mind, because What I find out there for men's crochet hat patterns is no very flattering.
Some people use software to make things and that is OK with me, I rather like the making of the pattern myself. There are some crochet designers out there that should go back to the design table. One of them has books and the support of people which is fantastic. When it comes to Crochet Sweaters I like Peter Franzi and you can find his blog HERE. I have bought some of his patterns and found them very cleverly made. Patterns for men and women. He has a very conscious hands on approach to the making of the garments. The look and feel wearable. Well this is all for today and I have some work to do lol! Thanks for stopping by!
