Tauron Donegal Socks Continues

So the journey started a couple of days ago and I have been looking around for the best books and stuff for learning to make socks and I finally found the best in my opinion. Antje Gillingham gives the best directions. The books she has written have great illustrations and will guide in your journey of making socks.
Below you have the cuffs
These are the legs.

The Heel Flap has taken shape.

The Heel has been turned and the gusset is been picked up!

Is it actually working? Yes it does fit! Finally the leg grows and by tomorrow I am hoping to have the finished product.

Thanks for stopping by and I hope you like these Battlestar Galactica inspired socks. I am using my own pattern and using or making a round heel. It just looks very nice. Thanks for stopping by!

Tauron Donegal Socks

So here I am in my newest adventure, two socks in two circulars and ready to go. This is the start of a great new focus of my craft. Eventually I am looking forward to Color Stranding work in socks, nothing like a custom fit pair of socks.
I wished I had bought more of this tweed, but maybe next time when I am in Ireland. I am hoping to visit Ireland again and enjoy the other areas that we did not visit. Donegal sounds like a place I want to visit. At any rate I wanted to share my cast on into two socks in two circulars.
There will be more pictures and there are some hats and some other items being worked on. I am still working on my Barbara Walker Learn To Knit Afghan, and by the way I am using the Antje Gillingham book Knitting Circles Around Socks and the sequel, Knitting More Circles Around Socks. I want to thank you for stopping by and please stay tuned, there is more Crafty Andy ahead!

Dradis Hat in Motion

So I have been making this hat from the bottom up. The one before this one was made from the top down. Honestly I see no real change, but you bet there is. I will be bringing forth a pattern in DPNs for this hat.
Here I am at the point of doing my first calculation for a jump. In other words I am trying to figure out how to continue the basket weave pattern and the double decreases on each corner.
Thank you for stopping by!

Etsy :: Eye of Jupiter Sock Options Classica, 4oz, 420 yrds merino/nylon

Well I finally got this yarn that I have been trying to get. The eye of Jupiter is how my year is actually shaping this time. I am molding the outcome and this is part of my life. I will make something with this , a pair of socks or a hat or some mittens with this, they shall be fun, I declare it. lol!
Made in America go and stimulate the economy for a pair of socks it will be better if you buy two skeins of the same yarn. Anyway I don't know if I will buy more of the same yarn or just make a hat with this and call it the Kara's Mandala Hat based on the Eye of Jupiter Drawing!

Is that A Cylon Raider in the Sky?

Today was a very nice day to do some knitting in public. As I am working on my second sock I swear I saw a Raider, but I could be wrong , it could have been Superman! The out of the corner of my eye I think I saw Caprica Six with Doctor Baltar in a making out session, down there, yep I think that's them, but then I am not sure. Too much Kamala Root today lol!
I swear I saw a Cylon Raider behind that cloud, maybe is Kara Thrace! I know is not Superman, but was it A Viper plane?

A beautiful day in the San Francisco Summer, not a usual way mind you. Our summers are cold by nature, but today the Gods granted us some random sunshine and warmth. Knitting in public is fun in the city by the Bay. I actually fell like laying down and taking the sun. Thanks for stopping by!

Freedom Hat is Done!

My first Double pointed Needles project, my first double pointed needles pattern! I really like DPNs. I had no idea how wonderful it would be to make hats this way. Here you have some pictures from my Knitting in public on the plane. You can actually knit on a plane with dps and regulr wooden needles. I have done it more than once and I don't think there are any problems with the American Air Rules and the TSA. I had a chance to do some wonderful Knitting in public at the Admiral's Club Lounge. My double point fear has faded away as I struggle to find my balance with the needles. Five needles is a great balance for a project and one thing is for sure a lot of people are curious about what you are doing. It seems that people have seen a lot of people knitting, but very few people knitting with that many needles at the same time lol!

The hat is finished, it is ready for the San Francisco Summer and has the 4 TH of July Colors! It was a very basic hat pattern starting with 8 stitches and then progressing to 96 stitches. I will be creating another one with this pattern soon. I decided to make the increases on every needle at a certain point then I decided that I wanted to have 8 points of increases. I guess I could have started it earlier, but this is how you learn. I ended the pattern with a cute basket weave 3 by 3 pattern. I am in love with my Harmony Double Points is all I can say and making hats is something that I enjoy and finding joy in double point needles was a great and pleasant surprise.
So here I am modeling my hat with some a collector's item glass from SPOK can you imagine? I am a very happy camper, very little to please me these days. I want to thank you for allowing me in you home and hope to have more fun stuff to tell you later on. Thanks for stopping by!

To crochet is Heavenly to Knit is Divine

It has been a hard journey my friends, I look at life in such a different way than other people, yet I have never seen the face of suffering in another human being that I cared about until about two weeks ago when my niece's future husband had an accident that took his life. There is nothing I can tell you that can describe to you how helpless I felt about her suffering, I wish I could have taken that upon myself, her suffering, I can handle it I am old enough, but life does not work that way. I had to be strong for everyone and I am strong, life and death are just a part of life, If it would have been me I would have cried for a while then gotten myself up, dusted my clothes and kept on walking, the body is just a shell please discard it as you see fit. Must be my Klingon Training lol!

So I offer you crochet the Eye of Jupiter a great piece of Handy work guided by the Gods? Who knows, one thing is for sure, it comes from within my being. From the heat of the Tropics to the Coolness of the Bay Area there is a 30 degree Fahrenheit difference and I am feeling it. I am not feeling well , but I will recover soon.
So I offer you knitting from my soul to yours, nobody taught me how to crochet or knit, I did it myself and my creations are mine from the inspiration from the God or the Gods or from somewhere. Love to the fullest, live life to the fullest and never give in to negativity. May the Gods of Kobol have mercy on our souls, So say we all, thanks for stopping by!

Going Back to the Pegasus

Personal Log the 6th day of the month of Juno Wife of almighty Zeus, close to 1300 hours, colonial time, It is time to go home and in my way home I have a new gift to myself, I call it the Tattoo of Life, it has a life of the Colonials’ Theme to it and the Lords Of Kobols are smilling. May we have a joyful journey in the river of life. Even when I have a joyous appearance my heart is a bit heavy, but nothing to it, everything good and bad does not last in life, the trick is to go forward and make life happen no mattter the circumstances. Taking responsability for one’s own destiny is the gift of the Gods. My life is full and I spring forth life in everything I touch, life is ever changing and we shall flow with it, the Gods are smilling indeed as we cpontinue our daily life journey, sometimes is a struggle , sometimes is smooth sailing, in the end everything in life is a success even deafeat is a success. May the Lords Of Kobol be with us all, So say we all.
