Milk substitutes review 2014

milks blogging
This is my first post for 2014, so I am going to wish everyone a Happy 2014 and Happy Epiphany day.  The visitation of the three Wise Men and Kings to Jesus of Nazareth.  That is what today is and lots of people celebrate it as the true Christmas day.

On another note, I have been testing different milk substitutes.  One reason is that milk is not the best thing in the world for humans, and worst if you have cholesterol problems.  Milk products have a tendency to increase phlegm and that is another story.

So from all the milk substitutes that I show you in this picture, the best ones were Almond milk, and Hazelnut milk.   Flax was next, is not a bad substitute, then after that comes hemp (which tastes like glue). I was able to sweetened hemp with agave nectar, but it did not make the taste go away, it just made taste sweet. The cashew milk was disappointing , I expect it to be more tasty(which was almost like glue, but not quite)  Coconut milk is one of the best choices as well.  So I will continue to drink my Almond and coconut milk and use soy milk k for my morning coffee.   This concludes my most basic taste critique, I will say that most of these milks will work for baking, so don't just discard them yet.  Anything with chocolate and sugar always tastes better, so it is an alternative.

I personally use Soy milk as a great alternative. Some people are allergic to it.  It is also worth mentioning that soy has phytoestrogens and that is not great for men, specially as we are aging and our testosterone levels come down.  I hope this gives you a little information and triggers  your mind to investigate what will work best for you.  Happy Holidays and I will be back with more postings today or tomorrow.  Thanks for stopping by!
