Me and the Buddha

As I contemplate another year in my life's journey I look at the Buddha in the mirror. Life is always a victory no matter how dim or grim it seems. Sometimes life challenges hit me hard and sometimes I just glide through life like a puffy cloud. It is close to my Birthday, actually a day before I turn 49 years of age. Well I actually start to celebrate the 5oth year, why not. Ladies and Gents almost half a century, it starts the 29th. I have learned so much and I will share some of my thoughts with you.
Starting my 50th year, there will be 49 behind me already. There is no doubt in my mind that there are more days behind me that there are ahead of me, but no matter what I keep going toward my destiny. What is my destiny? My destiny is to live life to the fullest. Here are some lessons, thoughts and whatever you may call them. They are almost as good as the Ferengi Rules of Acquisition.
  1. Never compromise your values.
  2. Love is not enough to live.
  3. GOD is, the GODS are real , Religions aren't.
  4. Never take more than what you need or give more than what you have.
  5. What you need and what you want aren't the same.
  6. Love is blind.
  7. Justice is Blind.
  8. Good things come to those who wait.
  9. Good things happen to bad people.
  10. Bad things Happen to good people.
  11. We are all created equal!
  12. Make waves and ride the surf.
  13. Never allow an injustice to go unnoticed.
  14. Speak up your mind.
  15. Pick up after yourself then some.
  16. Allow life to unfold.
  17. Be comfortable with your discomfort.
  18. Where are you going so fast?
  19. Listen to the inner silence.
  20. Know yourself, not who other people say you are.
  21. Don't fear life, live it, death is just part of life.
  22. Our Spirit is Eternal our bodies aren't.
  23. Don't allow anyone , not even your parents to disrespect you.
  24. Gratitude is the attitude.
  25. What you focus on becomes reality!
  26. March for Peace, don't march in an anti-war rally, there is a difference!
  27. Be kind to yourself and the environment.
  28. Get off the phone once in a while and actually talk to someone!
  29. Learn to Knit or Crochet, it will change your life!
  30. There is never enough yarn in my stash.
  31. Don't be complacent rattle someones cage today.
  32. Real friends are very rare treasure them.
  33. Eat Dark Chocolate.
  34. Drink water.
  35. Brush your teeth.
  36. Chant for Peace!
  37. Rejoice in the abundance of life.
  38. Your brain is a tool, don't let it convince you is you.
  39. Don't waste time in Anger, it poisons only you.
  40. Self Pity is useless.
  41. Don't look for outside validation.
  42. You need to give to receive, it is the law!
  43. For every action there is a reaction of equal magnitude, it is a Law of Physics!!!!
  44. Focus on what you want, don't focus on what you don't want!
  45. You can have your cake and you can eat it too, just think portions!
  46. You can heal your life!
  47. You need to laugh every day, specially before going to bed!
  48. Smile make people wonder!
  49. You are a unique individual, but you are the sum of your parts!
  50. Be spontaneous once in a while.
  51. You can't choose who you fall in love with.

I could say or list many more, but one thing is for sure, there are no defeats in life. Enjoy today because today is all you have, tomorrow is not here yet and it may never come. Until next time may the Gods of Kobol Bless you and Me ! Thanks for stopping by!

Hi,

This is my first time reading your blog.  I really like your 51 statements of wisdom.  I am 51 and have been knitting and crocheting for 40 years.  I think you are a very nice man and I especially like the picture of you smiling with your dog.

Enjoy the rest of your life.
