I am hoping that this blog will help you and me experience the craft of crochet as well as knitting. During times of silence or turmoil, crochet and knitting continuously help me quiet my mind at my own pace, enabling me to find my center. I am also sharing my SECRET persona, Lt. DAX, my life in code while living in Bajor. Maybe fiction maybe not is up to you to decide. Peldor Joi!!!

Birthday 2015
I am so fortunate to have live this long so far and very happy to be here. This may be due to my Cylon DNA. This cake is a very tasty cake, but is the second one. I had a friend that came over and brought a cake to share, he is a great fiber friend and friend.
These were my my gifts, some of them from me to me and some from my partner, some from a friend.
These are DPN project holders from Knitzi.com , made in the USA and great tools to have. Thanks for being here another year and may we continue our path toward peace and enlightenment. Thanks for stopping by!

"Mosaico" a Fair Isle hat
“Mosaico” a Fair Isle hat. I
created this hat pattern thinking of the mosaic knitting patterns. It is a Fair Isle hat with a folded rib
band. This hat is definitely a unisex
hat and you may size it smaller or larger.
It has the ability to be a Tam, slouch or plain beanie depending on your
gauge and blocking choices.
A mosaic (from the latin mosaÄcum
[opus], '[work] relative to the Muses, artistic') is a painting made with small pieces of stone,
ceramic, glass or other similar materials of different shapes and colors,
called tesserae, United through plaster, or other Binder, to form decorative geometric
or figurative compositions.
Materials:
You will need a skein of each color, about 115 to 175 yds for MC and 105 to 160 yds of CC.
Yarns:
Main Picture Above Kauni Wool 8/2 Effekgarn, Medium , 126 sts, 60 gms.
MC = 29 grams of El blue purple and CC = 31 grams of Eu red orange yellow
Picture Below Blend by Wollmeise, medium hat, 126 sts, 69 grams.
MC = 36 grams of "All Inclusive" and CC= 33 grams of "Fuchsia"
Sport / 5 ply 70% Merino, 20% Cashmere, 10% Nylon 546 yards / 150 grams
Needles US 3, 3.25 mm, double pointed needles or 1 or 2 circulars with a cable of 30" or more.
at one point dpns will be useful.
Gauge: 2" = 12 sts and 16 Rows in stockinette stitch.
Notions: Stitch marker, darning needle, waste yarn, crochet hook.
Finished dimensions before blocking. Rib band about 18(21, 24, 27), inches, if you get gauge. Blocked this hat measured from crown to purl edge about 9 1/2 inches tall and 22 inches in circumference.
Blocking this hat consisted of hand washing by submersion, then laid flat to dry. I used a towel to remove the excess water, by patting it dry. You may use other ways of blocking as for a tam, or a bigger slouchy hat. It has a negative ease of about 1 to 2 inches.
