Saturn's Ring Baby Cardigan a BSJ

Nel mezzo del camin di nostra vita
mi ritrovai per una selva oscura
che la diritta via era smarrita.
Ahi quanto a dir qual era è cosa dura
esta selva selvaggia e aspra e forte,
che nel pensier rinuova la paura!

I am in a Dantesque mood, meaning a dark Saturnine Energy. The poem begins on the night before Good Friday in the year 1300, "midway in the journey of our life" (Nel mezzo del cammin di nostra vita), and so opens in medias res. Dante is thirty-five years old, half of the biblical allotted age of 70 (Psalm 90:10), lost in a dark wood. I am not there in the Dantesque point of view, but rreally reflecting in what is important in my life and contemplating my next few years before I turn 50.

In the meantime here I am working on the BSJ, what a fun project, full of challenges and excitement. I do not expect perfection, but rather enjoying the journey that this jacket and Meg and Elizabeth are taking me to. Ah Philosophy, the cacophony of the mind, sometimes idle chatter, sometimes the mind does what it is suppose to do, gather data, classify it and then bring it forth to what THE MIND IN ITSELF THINKS IS RELEVANT, not very accurate from the personal point of view, but very relevant from the mind point of view. Tangents, Right Angles and Elizabeth Zimmerman have a lot in common. This lady was a Math Lover and you can tell when she quotes PI.
*
Pi or π is one of the most important mathematical constants, approximately equal to 3.14159. It represents the ratio of any circle's circumference to its diameter in Euclidean geometry, which is the same as the ratio of a circle's area to the square of its radius. Many formulas from mathematics, science, and engineering involve π. Since we are not going to give you a headache, we will leave it at that. She uses this mathematical equations to relate the Knitting in the Round.

Though knitting back and forth on rigid straight needles was the norm, she advocated knitting in the round using flexible circular needles to produce seamless garments and to make it easier to knit intricate patterns. She also advocated the Continental knitting method, claiming that it is the most efficient and quickest way to knit. During World War II, German or continental knitting fell out of favor in the UK and US due to its association with Germany. Most English books on knitting today are in the English or American style. Elizabeth Zimmerman helped to re-introduce continental style knitting to the United States.

So come along with me in this exciting journey of the BSJ and small talk about things. As Saturn is travels through fastidious detail oriented Virgo life always gets interesting. My life is never boring and so it goes. Thanks for stopping by!

I haven't done the BSJ yet, but would like to in the future. I told you something wrong in my comment a few posts back. I don't own the Knitting Workshop DVD, but rather the Knitting Glossary one. You may like that one as well.
