I am the Spice of Arakis!

If you ever saw this movie "Dune" you know what I am talking about when I say I am the Spice of Arakis. Dune is set far in the future amidst a sprawling feudal interstellar empire where planetary fiefdoms are controlled by noble Houses that owe allegiance to the Imperial House Corrino. The novel tells the story of young Paul Atreides (heir apparent to Duke Leto Atreides and scion of House Atreides) as he and his family relocate to the planet Arrakis, the only source of the spice melange, the most important and valuable substance in the universe. In a story that explores the complex interactions of politics, religion, ecology, technology, and human emotion, the fate of Paul, his family, his new planet and its native inhabitants, as well as the Padishah Emperor, the powerful Spacing Guild, and the secretive female order of the Bene Gesserit, are all drawn together into a confrontation that will change the course of humanity.

But why wait for that to happen LOL! So why does this have to do anything with Crochet. Really nothing, but it does have to do with the way we do things in life, the way I live my life. If you remember the movie, you will remember that they had a weapon that was activated by the power of the voice. Muad'Dib was the pronunciation of this word was the strongest weapon..

Muad'Dib is the name of two fictional entities within the realm of Frank Herbert's Dune.

The definition, found in the Terminology of the Imperium section of the Appendixes of Dune, defines muad'dib thus:

The adapted kangaroo mouse of Arrakis, a creature associated in the Fremen earth-spirit mythology with a design visible on the planet's second moon. This creature is admired by Fremen for its ability to survive in the open desert.

In addition to the markings on the second moon, there is also a constellation called Muad'Dib in the sky of Arrakis; its tail points to the north.

Symbolism

The symbolic definition is broader in complexity.

It is part the chosen name of manhood that Paul Atreides selects when he is accepted into the Fremen. It is one of two names that Paul maintains within the tribe. Stilgar explains that the first, Usul, means "strength of the base of the pillar". That it is his secret name, his troop name, that only Sietch Tabr may use and none other may presume.

The second, Muad'Dib, is that by which he is known openly. Stilgar explains that the choice pleases them and then goes on to explain:

Muad'Dib is wise in the ways of the desert. Muad'Dib creates his own water. Muad'Dib hides from the sun and travels in the cool night. Muad'Dib is fruitful and multiplies over the land. Muad'Dib we call 'instructor-of-boys.' That is a powerful base on which to build your life, Paul-Muad'Dib.

Paul is reluctant to throw away his full past and get rid of the full name his father gave him, which is why he first wished to be called Paul-Muad'Dib. Unfortunately, this name was soon forgotten and became simply "Muad'dib". Also, it was hoped that by keeping the name his father gave him, he could prevent the mass slaughter that would occur later in his name. Sadly, it was not.

The meanings of both Usul and Muad'Dib have powerful ramifications and a great deal of foreshadowing for the purpose Paul has on Arrakis.

If you go to the Bible it says that God spoke and it was done. And God was the Word and the Word was God. So where does that leaves us? We have a powerful instrument in our voice, and we create our destiny with our thoughts. I am not advocating for any religion here, so do not misunderstand my message.

When you think about the modern day visualization, it is actually telling you that if you have enough concetration on a particular thing it will be manifested, or rather you will manifest it. People take this very lightly, I don't, I try to be very careful about what I say, about what I think. I don't like negative thinking people around me. I actually try to avoid them.

You know the type, they can always find the dark cloud in any silver lining. The power of the spoken word is the power to create. The mind is just a tool, never let your mind take you hostage. Does your mind talks to you all the time? Learn to quiet your mind and learn to use it as a tool. The mind tends to talk all the time without making any sense. You can discipline your mind by concentrating in the sound of silence! When you are in a moment of quiet contemplation and your mind wants to tell you that you have things to do, stop it is going to be only five minutes. You can even put a timer to help you out, but then you can do it in 5 minutes increments until you are 30 minutes in quiet contemplation. Whenever a thought comes observe it as if it was a leaf being blown by the wind and see it come and go. Never let your childhood memories, teachers, parents tell you how to live. Whenever you feel very strong about something ask yourself the following;

1. Who taught you that?
2. Who showed you how to think?
3. Is this in conflict with your personal values?
The ones you have learned yourself, not the ones other people taught you!

Are you an independent thinker or do you think the way your parents taught you to think? Do you think the way Society tells you to? Do you think the way your religious leader tells you to!

I hope that you enjoyed your little visit, thanks for stopping by.

Very deep stuff. I couldn't agree more (with the imagery, positive thinking, contemplation parts - don't know much about Dune...)

I've never done this before, but you are tagged. I think you could provide a very interesting weirdness meme... come see my blog for more...
